Donald Trump’s 79th Birthday Coincides with US Army’s 250th Anniversary Parade in Washington, DC
Washington, DC witnessed a rare sight on June 14 as tanks, military convoys, and armored vehicles rolled through the streets, causing traffic congestion ahead of a massive military parade. The event marked the 250th anniversary of the United States Army and also coincided with former President Donald Trump’s 79th birthday.
The military parade kicked off from 23rd Street near the Lincoln Memorial and made its way down Constitution Avenue, ending near the Washington Monument. Thousands of spectators lined the streets to catch a glimpse of the celebration, which featured soldiers, aircraft, tanks, horses, and even mules in a grand display of military pride.
President Trump addressed the occasion earlier in the week, saying, “I think it’s time for us to celebrate a little bit. You know, we’ve had a lot of victories.” He clarified that although it was his birthday, the real focus was on honoring the US Army’s historic milestone.
As many as 200,000 people were expected to attend the event, with designated viewing and media areas set up along the parade route. However, the increased military presence and preparations led to significant traffic slowdowns in the city. Roads near the National Mall were closed in stages, and officials warned that closures could last for up to four days.
In addition, the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport temporarily suspended flights during the parade for security and safety reasons.
While the military parade was scheduled to last only a few hours, Washington residents experienced ongoing disruptions due to rerouted traffic, blocked streets, and the movement of large military vehicles.
