Maruti Grand Vitara Upcoming 7-Seater SUV For India: What To Expect?
Maruti Suzuki is ready to introduce the 3‑row edition of its hot selling SUV, The Grand Vitara in India. This new 7-seat version will be built on the current 5-seater Grand Vitara’s platform but there will also add on a third row of seating, creating a perfect family-friendly SUV. Right now, that’s being tested under the code name Y17 and is due to go live in.
Engine Options and Performance
As for the 7-seat version, it is expected to come with the 1.5-litre petrol mild-hybrid engine as well as a 1.5-litre strong hybrid option. The mild-hybrid option could be available with a 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox. Top trims may offer the strong-hybrid model with an e-CVT transmission and in available all-wheel-drive (AWD). This pair up is intended to balance performance with mileage.
Interior and Features
The Grand Vitara 3‑Row will be bigger inside as well, and with premium features. Some of the likely highlights are large touchscreen infotainment panel, wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, digital driver display, panoramic sunroof and ventilated front seats to name a few. Top trims could also score ADAS features including lane-keep assist, auto braking and cruise control. The third row might have AC vents and charging points, ensuring it’s a family-friendly SUV.

Maruti – Suzuki has lined-up 2 new SUVs for FY26 (between Apr 2025 and Mar 2026) including the Grand Vitara 3 ‑ Row. The SUV will likely arrive in India after Diwali 2025. The company has yet to make an official statement of when – the date, or how much – pricing is released.
